Intramedullary Nail

An intramedullary nail is a metal rod that goes inside the middle of a bone to help fix a break in the bone. These may be flexible, meaning that the rod is bendable. Flexible intramedullary nails are more commonly used in children. Intramedullary nails may also be rigid, meaning that the rod is stiff. These are more commonly used in older children and adults.
